Chakras, wow! Where do we start! You may have heard the word chakra or chakras before, but what is it . . . really. Well to start with, it's so much more than a woowoo, hippie, airy fairy term.
The chakra system is where you bring life force energy into your body. Originating from within the ancient yogic systems of India, the word chakra is from the Sanskrit language and translates as wheel or disk. We can think of the chakras as vortices of energy radiating to and from the central nerve ganglia of the spinal cord and connecting into the governing meridian. The chakra system functions as a conduit through which divine energy passes into the spiritual and physical body. Without these energy portals, you would cease to exist.
The chakras are like energy centers or stations where information, energy, emotion, etc. is received, translated and assimilated. You can think of this information as software for the body, from which the program of your life is run. When the chakra system is balanced and running properly our whole BEing (Body, Mind, Spirit) runs smoothly and in harmony.
Each chakra influences the organs, muscles, ligaments, veins and other systems within its area of activity, and they are strongly involved with your moods, personality, and overall health and wellbeing. Your physical and psychological evolution, as well as your spiritual journey, are all reflected in your chakras.
An imprint of every important or emotionally significant event you have experienced is recorded in your chakra energy and affects the chakra positively or negatively depending on the emotion. This is why chakra work is so very important to your well being. When we understand the chakra system we understand the body as a whole on a much deeper level.
Most people who have heard of the chakra system have most commonly heard of the 7 chakras. I work with 9 major chakras starting from the feet to the top of the head. They all connect vertically in a line up the body and they correspond to the glands in the endocrine system, the various bodily processes, and the organs that are within the area of each chakra. Psychologically, the chakras correspond to major areas of our lives, grounding (Foot), survival (Root), pleasure (Sacral), power (Solar Plexus), love (Heart), service (Thymus), communication (Throat), imagination (Third Eye) and spirituality (Crown).
Our chakra system has been collecting impressions since the time of our conception (maybe even before), so now you can start to understand why this is such important work. Chakras can be energetically excessive or deficient, and there are many ways to help balance, and remove blockages so that your chakra system runs smoothly and efficiently. You may have heard the idea that we are spiritual beings having a physical experience, well, if we treat our being as a whole (body, mind, spirit) we can heal and learn and grow in a much more fulfilling manner. We can enjoy our physical experience more thoroughly if we are being present in our lives more, and healing and working in the chakra system helps us do just that.
If you are interested in learning more about our wonderful chakra system, working with it, balancing it, etc. I am teaching a 6 week class called Journey Through the Chakras, starting on Friday, Sept. 14th. This will be a fun, interactive live webinar class conducted on Zoom. We will explore each chakra in detail, learn ways to balance and keep them running properly and how to check the status of your own system.
