Journey Through the Chakras

Chakras, wow! Where do we start! You may have heard the word chakra or chakras before, but what is it . . . really. Well to start with, it's so much more than a woowoo, hippie, airy fairy term.

The chakra system is where you bring life force energy into your body. Originating from within the ancient yogic systems of India, the word chakra is from the Sanskrit language and translates as wheel or disk. We can think of the chakras as vortices of energy radiating to and from the central nerve ganglia of the spinal cord and connecting into the governing meridian. The chakra system functions as a conduit through which divine energy passes into the spiritual and physical body. Without these energy portals, you would cease to exist.

The chakras are like energy centers or stations where information, energy, emotion, etc.  is received, translated and assimilated. You can think of this information as software for the body, from which the program of your life is run. When the chakra system is balanced and running properly our whole BEing (Body, Mind, Spirit) runs smoothly and in harmony.

Each chakra influences the organs, muscles, ligaments, veins and other systems within its area of activity, and they are strongly involved with your moods, personality, and overall health and wellbeing. Your physical and psychological evolution, as well as your spiritual journey, are all reflected in your chakras.

An imprint of every important or emotionally significant event you have experienced is recorded in your chakra energy and affects the chakra positively or negatively depending on the emotion. This is why chakra work is so very important to your well being.  When we understand the chakra system we understand the body as a whole on a much deeper level.

Most people who have heard of the chakra system have most commonly heard of the 7 chakras. I work with 9 major chakras starting from the feet to the top of the head. They all connect vertically in a line up the body and they correspond to the glands in the endocrine system, the various bodily processes, and the organs that are within the area of each chakra. Psychologically, the chakras correspond to major areas of our lives, grounding (Foot), survival (Root),  pleasure (Sacral), power (Solar Plexus), love (Heart), service (Thymus), communication (Throat), imagination (Third Eye) and spirituality (Crown).

Our chakra system has been collecting impressions since the time of our conception (maybe even before), so now you can start to understand why this is such important work. Chakras can be energetically excessive or deficient, and there are many ways to help balance, and remove blockages so that your chakra system runs smoothly and efficiently. You may have heard the idea that we are spiritual beings having a physical experience, well, if we treat our being as a whole (body, mind, spirit) we can heal and learn and grow in a much more fulfilling manner. We can enjoy our physical experience more thoroughly if we are being present in our lives more, and healing and working in the chakra system helps us do just that.

If you are interested in learning more about our wonderful chakra system, working with it, balancing it, etc. I am teaching a 6 week class called Journey Through the Chakras, starting on Friday, Sept. 14th. This will be a fun, interactive live webinar class conducted on Zoom. We will explore each chakra in detail, learn ways to balance and keep them running properly and how to check the status of your own system.

The Energy of the Summer Solstice

Can you feel the excitement of summer?  This week we celebrate the Summer Solstice, in the northern hemisphere it is the start of the fun, playful, summer season. After being cooped up indoors all winter, it is a time to celebrate warmth by being outside. The kid’s are done with school, we travel more, there are celebrations of love, with summer weddings. We spend time at the lakes, rivers & streams, we bond with our families & friends, have bonfires, light fireworks, and there are festivals, dancing & outdoor music everywhere.

In Shaman traditions this season focuses on the three directions of summer. South, South-Southeast, and South-Southwest, are representative of adolescence, maturing, and the inner child. It is the place where we learn how to live successfully, where we come to know abundance. Some of the spirit animals associated with summer are coyote, beaver, hummingbird, otter and squirrel, their energy can help you learn & grow in this season.

The color of the South is red, representing the physical world and our root chakra. Here we learn material lessons concerning money and the accumulation of material possessions. In the summer we experience joy, play, and honoring the child within. Allow yourself time to enjoy your life and do not take yourself too seriously. For those who have lost joy in their lives and need to reconnect with their inner child, or those who have never matured into productive adults, a visit to the South would provide reconnection to this essence and completion of these lessons. The South is also where we begin to solve our issues about lack of material success. You can ask the spirit animals of summer to help you in any of these areas during prayer or meditation. Take a mental journey to your secret garden and see what animal shows up for you and what they have to show you.

At the start of each season I like to do some energetic cleansing of my home and office. You can do this with a thorough smudging by burning Sage, Sweetgrass or Palo Santo wood. Start by setting your intention that you are moving out any old or stagnant energy and ushering in the new. It’s a great idea to open doors and windows, to really get the energy flowing. Start at the doorway of each room, go into all the corners and throughout each room waving the smoke to cover the area, don’t forget the closets and cupboards.  If you don’t like the smell of burning Sage, Sweetgrass or Palo Santo, or if you are in an office building that won’t allow it, you can use essential oil sprays to accomplish the same movement of energy. Some good oils to use are Palo Santo, Clary Sage, Rosemary, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Cedarwood, Orange or a blend of your favorite oils. Remember, intention is very important. You will feel the fresh vibrant energy that this ritual brings in.

Summer is the time when mother earth opens her arms wide to the heavens to celebrate it’s beautiful bounty. It is a time of new growth and abundance in all areas of your life. Flowers bloom, gardens grow, birds sing, animals play and the sun & rain bring new life to the earth once again. Celebrate this new season, have fun and enjoy it!

Creative Mindset

Working in the creative mindset . . . . hmmmm, what does that mean?

I guess to me it means doing what you love, no matter what. Being yourself, being authentic to you, to your beliefs, being totally unique, following your heart and not looking back. Living in a non-competitive mindset, I guess is where it brings me. We are in an abundant universe, there is PLENTY for everyone, we have an infinite amount of ideas, desires and also ways to fulfill them.

When we follow our inspiration, our heart, it doesn't matter what everyone else is doing, it doesn't matter what "other" people think. The important thing is "how do YOU feel", it's not a selfish thing, it's creating at the highest vibration, creating what ever your "heart" desires, whatever makes your SOUL sing! TAKE THE LEAP and HAVE FUN!

Shine on! And when you do THAT, it shows others that they can do it too!

Baby It's Cold Outside!

4.3.18
I woke up a little cranky, lack of sun, lack of spring. Old man winter just doesn’t want to let go this year, It is April 3rd and we have BELOW ZERO wind chills this morning and another day of NO SUN!
Usually March has a little stretch of bi-polar weather here in ND, but we had a whole month of it this year, and it seems to be continuing into at least the first 2 weeks of April.

So that started my day, trying to look on the bright side, for the “Gold” so to speak. I was looking forward to my meeting with a friend and fellow creative junkie, much like myself. Got everything packed up and ready to face the cold winds, all the while thinking, it should be sunny! I should be able to wear my sweater, or no socks! But instead I pulled on my boots, my goosedown coat and my mittens and headed out the door.

While driving to my destination my officemate texted me and said the internet was out. F*&$#ing Snow Plow cut the cable again, 4th time this winter, come on! We live in the tundra, you should have this figured out by now Mr. Cable guy! So I called and they can be there “within the next 4 hours” so you can go and wait for them because if you miss them your screwed until the next available appointment. Luckily my officemate can be there, because I have shit going on today!

Get to my destination, (by the way, it’s fucking cold outside, my inside latch broke on my drivers door on the car and it’s been to cold to fix) go to open my window, to open my car door and the window is frozen shut! Oh man, OK, What would the “Masters in the Vortex” do? I crank up the heat and close my eyes and look for an uplifting thought! Baaaam! "It’s a good thing my family and so many awesome people live here, it’s the only thing that keeps me here!" . . .  So I sit, just a couple minutes longer and magically my window has melted so now it opens. I get out of the car and walk into Barnes & Noble, where I’m meeting my friend and in the front entry way there are always books on clearance. I look  . . . and what do I find? The Science of Success, the trilogy by Wallace D. Wattles which includes, The Science of Getting Rich, The Science of Being Well and The Science of Being Great.

I walk straight back to the coffee shop, grab a double shot latte and a lemon bar and open the pages of the vortex that I love so much.

Thank You Masters of the Universe! Once again you have lifted me up and made my day!
Now on to manifesting some sunshine!
